After teaching in elementary schools for over seven years, I've found that, while teaching can be very challenging, whenever I walk into my classroom and see those twenty smiling, expectant faces, I always feel a rush of energy. During my career, I've taught pre-school and kindergarten in Guatemala and third grade and kindergarten in the United States. Prior to my current kindergarten teaching position at Fiesta Gardens International School in San Mateo, CA, I worked as a literacy coach.

I've been teaching second grade for seven years in Sunnyvale, CA, at Ponderosa Elementary, a school with a socio-economically diverse population. During this time, I've been involved with the Noyce Foundation's professional development programs as a participant, a demonstration teacher, and an Exemplar Teacher.

This year marks the fifth year of my teaching career - as well as my fifth year as a teacher at Glider Elementary School in the Oak Grove School District. After completing a master's degree in literacy education with strong focus on equity, I taught kindergarten for three years. I'm currently in my second year of teaching second grade. This year, I'm also a part-time literacy coach at my school.

Currently, I'm in my second year as a 5th grade teacher at Sunnybrae Elementary in San Mateo, California. I've also been a math tutor, computer teacher, swim coach, and high school technology coordinator. My teaching career spans 17 years and includes experience in both public and private elementary, middle, and high schools.
