This clip shows me jotting down some quick notes after a conference. I forgot to write them down right after the conference, but I remembered before my next conference. This is very important!
I think this is a good quick reminder that documentation of your conferences is critical. It is easy to skip over this detail, but it will pay off in the end. I have a binder with a tab for each student and a form to write down quick notes on each conference. I often take a look at my previous notes on a student when I start a conference. Doing this helps me to formulate some questions and to be sure that students are following up with my suggestions or comments. It also reminds me what I said to them so I don't repeat or contradict myself. It's also a great resource for parent conferences and report cards!
