In this clip I am introducing the students to what it means to "publish" their book.
Commentary
What I'm trying to do here is model exactly what it is I'm going to ask the kids to do in their work today. I have learned in my teaching experience that kindergarten is all about modeling. You have to be very explicit about what it is that you are asking them to do. I want them to understand how to decide which book to choose for publishing, so first I show them that they will get all the books that they have finished from their yellow boxes.

Hoy vamos a escoger un libro para poner alla en la pared. Nuestro libro favorito, ¿ok? El libro mas excelente. ¿Ok? El libro mas excelente que tenemos. Entonces, ahorita les voy a enseñar cómo ustedes van a agarrar sus libros, y cómo van a decidir cual es tu libro mas favorito? ¿Ok? Aquí tengo mi carpeta. ¿Verdad? Aqui está mi carpeta. Pero aqui solamente tengo un libro, el libro en que estoy trabajando. El libro que no he terminado. ¿Verdad? Entonces, lo que tengo que hacer, es ir a agarrar mis libros de mi caja amarilla. Y par hoy, yo voy a usar la caja amarilla de Maria para Maestro Limón. Aqui tengo mis libros. Todos los libros que yo he hecho. Y yo voy a agarrar todos, todos los libros y traerlos aqui, y vamos a imaginar que este es mi escritorio. ¿Ok? A sentarme aqui.

And for today, I'm going to use Maria's yellow box for Teacher Limón. Here I have my books. All the books that I've done. And I'm going to get all of them, all the books and bring them here, and we're going to imagine that this is my desk. Ok? I'll sit down here. |
