TEACHER: Can you tell us a little bit about what you're writing about?
STUDENT: I'm writing my soccer and right now I'm writing about what is the most important part of the story.
TEACHER: So first you wrote about soccer and then -
STUDENT: First I wrote about soccer and then I wrote, to be continued, and this is when I told like why it was important to me. Then I'm writing about the most important parts like that I felt were so big.
TEACHER: Could you tell us what you're going to write about?
STUDENT: It's when I scored three goals in a row.
TEACHER: Wow! Do you like writing?
STUDENT: Yeah.
TEACHER: What do you like about it?
STUDENT: I like about it like, you can write anything you want, like information.
TEACHER: What do you mean by information?
STUDENT: I like to tell about different animals. I'm a big expert on that.
TEACHER: Yeah?
STUDENT Yeah.
TEACHER: Do you like to use details when you are doing your writing?
STUDENT: Yeah.
TEACHER: What do you want to work on the most in your writing? What would you like to improve?
STUDENT: The narrative.
TEACHER: The narrative. You want to improve your narrative writing. So what's that mean?
STUDENT: I want to learn more about it. I already know about it that much. And in kindergarten and first grade we didn't really focus on it because a narrative is kind of hard.
TEACHER: Can you tell me what narrative is?
STUDENT: It is writing a story about you.
TEACHER: Okay, great. About personal experiences, like your soccer.
STUDENT: Yeah.
TEACHER: So you want to get a little bit better about telling stories about yourself and things that you've done.
STUDENT: I've written lots of narratives in here.
