Susie's significant event is attending a football game for the first time with her father and grandmother. She has a really hard time identifying the significance of her event. She spends a lot of time thinking about why going to the football game with dad and grandma was such a big deal.
Susie does arrive at the significance, but remains unsure. She questions whether she should write down what she has said orally.
| VISITOR: | How is it going? |
| STUDENT: | Good. But I have to think and start over a little bit about why it's important. I'm still thinking. |
| VISITOR: | Describe to me what you're doing. |
| STUDENT: | Um, I'm writing about a time when I went to a football with my dad on my birthday on November third and my grandma too. And we - Dad saw some of his people, people that was in this class. I that's 30 year reunion. And I think that's high school or college I forgot. |
| VISITOR: | Why do you think that you remember that day? |
| STUDENT: | I remember it because I was excited because it was my first time I ever went to the football game and - |
| VISITOR: | Did you write that down yet? |
| STUDENT: | No. So I should write it down here? |
| VISITOR: | Well, do you think you should write it down? |
| STUDENT: | Yeah. ... I saw some cheerleaders there but I couldn't see that much because I was - the cheerleaders were like the other way and we were like the other way and I like the band because I like the music they did From my side and I was looking, it looked like Asian people but there were also Caucasian people too. I don't know why they remind me of Asian people. |
| VISITOR: | Okay. Lots of details. Just start writing all those big important things. |
| STUDENT: | I felt so happy I came with my dad to this place. I was happy to see a special moment and halftime band. And also I was excited because it was the first time. I was also very happy to see my dad's field where we played football. And I was surprised when Dad saw some of his high school friends. When I was looking at the band, it looked like Asian people, but there were also English people. And also, some woman came and danced when the band was playing. It was a special moment to see some dancing. It was the [ ] moment to the football game with my grandma. |
