In this clip, you will see me get our closing started. I preface Aaron's share with his topic and then describe what happened in our conference together. I ask Aaron to share what he started with and then what he ended up with.
My intent with my closing was to basically summarize what had happened in writing workshop and show some of the growth that had happened as a result of the lesson and my conferring.

Wow! There was a lot of good work going on today. A lot of you were able to capture the importance of the events that you had selected. A couple of people that I had conferenced with today and was able to check back in with were Aaron and Celia and I'm going to have them share them today what they were able to do.
Now, Aaron has two different parts to his share today. He's going to read to you, first of all, what he had at the point when I met him in the small group conference with him and Brandon. And then he's going to share with you what he was able to write after we talked. Just the first part. |
| Aaron: | This story is important to read because I've always wanted to learn soccer and it's one of my favorite sports. |
| TEACHER: | Okay. So let me also tell you, Aaron's topic is, when he was playing soccer on the kindergarten playground one day after school. Okay. So he said that it was important because he had always wanted to learn how to play soccer, it was one of his favorite sports. So when I was talking with Aaron we were trying to figure out if that was really why this particular day on the playground was important to him. And as he started talking to me, he shared with me some really cool things that happened that day. He'd been practicing with his dad and that day, what happened Aaron? |
| Aaron: | I scored three goals in a row. |
| TEACHER: | He scored three goals in a row, something he'd never done before. So this is now what Aaron was able to write after we talked together. Go ahead. |
| Aaron: | One of the most important things is where I scored three goals in a row. It was one of the exciting things in my life. |
| TEACHER: | Okay. So he was able then to go a few steps farther than, okay, yeah, I was playing soccer. I want to learn how to play soccer too. On this particular day I scored three goals in a row. |
| MALE: | You should have put an exclamation mark. |
| TEACHER: | Quite possibly, an exclamation mark. So Aaron was really able to think about that one particular day when he was on the playground playing soccer and why that one particular day was so important, because he scored three goals that day and he'd never done that before. So let's give silent cheers to Aaron. |
